Getting Started Gardening Basics Class Series at Chuckanut Center
At the May 13th class we’ll explore Spring topics, including:
-Starting a new bed. Example – On Grass; cover with cardboard…
-Stinging nettles for Food & Fertilizer, Recipes
-Calendar, Record Keeping, Time To Harvest, Multiplant, Layering, Stacking
-No straight lines needed! Experiment with different methods
-Planting, Garden Journal. Volunteer starts, cuttings.
-I Can! Attitude, More than one way
-Planning for seed saving. Spring Planting
Hands-on activities:
-Introduction to weeding. Potting up Kale volunteers to take home.
-Two hour class includes lecture, Q&A, in-garden time, hands-on practice, demonstrations, examples, samples and references to take home. Bring writing materials. Dress for the weather. We will be getting our hands in the dirt! Let the explorations begin!
