Pippa Hemsley

Board Secretary

Before I was ever a volunteer, I walked past the Chuckanut Center dozens of times until I finally got so intensely curious about it that I had to find out more about this mysterious red building surrounded by gardens and get involved.

After first assisting with outreach materials, I now serve as Secretary on the Board of Directors helping to keep track of lots of moving information and ensure nothing gets lost in the flood.

As an environmental educator focused on how the quality of human relationships and environmental justice are fundamental to the interconnected wellbeing of people and planet, I care deeply about creating opportunities to foster community connections and life-enriching learning experiences. I have a special interest in somatic learning that brings into focus the sensory experience inherent in all learning yet often overlooked, and which can be so integral to the “resilience” that makes transformation possible in the face of overwhelming challenge.

Being an unapologetic somatic learning geek, my other favorite things to do include training in Aikido, singing, practicing juggling the diabolo, and walking barefoot in the mud whenever I am able!
